Description
Imaginary scene two legendary Hydriot* sailing ships meeting in open sea. Goletta "Terpsichori" of Tombazis, on a beam reach, overtakes the Brig Epaminondas of Kriezis.
Both were initially commercial vessels and later, during the war of independence (1821-1832) were modified to cruisers for the naval needs of the struggle for freedom.
"Terpsichori" acquired the nickname “devil ship” (seitan gemisi) due to its speed and flexibility by the Turks.
* of the Greek island of Hydra.
