Description
Bombarda Sabatiera resembled a bigger Trehantiri, it had two masts and a bratsera with a gaff sail and its topsail on the mizzen.
Wider at the waterline, for larger capacity, it usually sailed as a merchant ship, although there are 19 century records for some used - with oars - as warships or pirate ships.
It was built all over the Aegean by shipbuilders who came from the eastern Aegean and was most common in the island of Chios.
Artwork #14 (blueprint version) from the collection of miniatures "The evolution of the Greek sailing vessels from the 16th to the 19th century".
