Saetia - traditional Greek sailing ship - blueprint
Drawing - Drawing - Chinese Ink On Fabriano Paper
The Saetia was a sharp-prowed, single-decked merchant sailing vessel found in the Mediterranean (more in the Levant than in the Western Mediterranean), in the 18th and 19th centuries. Although they usually had two lateen-rigged masts on occasion they were re-rigged to take advantage of constant winds with a square rig, as depicted here.
Artwork #7 (blueprint version) from the collection of miniatures "The evolution of the Greek sailing vessels from the 16th to the 19th century".
