The Pigos was a merchant vessel of the 18th century, with latin-rig (triangular sails) and a characteristic fore-mast leaning towards the ship's bow. A well-known boat of this type was the "Panaghia tis Hydras" built in 1791 and captained by Nikolaos Tombazis.
Artwork #9 from the collection of miniatures "The evolution of the Greek sailing vessels from the 16th to the 19th century".
