The Pigos was a merchant vessel of the 18th century, with latin-rig (triangular sails) and a characteristic fore-mast leaning towards the ship's bow.
A well-known larger version of this type was the "Panaghia tis Hydras" (Virgin Mary of Hydra) built in 1791 and captained by Nikolaos Tombazis.
