Description
The protagonist of the 18th-19th century Greek nautical history. The brig with its speed and flexibility, was the ship that broke the English blockades supplying the French ports with food and raw materials, bringing enormous wealth to the Greek sailors.
It was also the "humble" under-armed wheat-carrying vessel that eventually formed the core of the liberation fleet of 1821, which managed to keep the "high-and-mighty" Ottoman fleet at bay or on the run, much to the amazement of the overlooking European naval officers of the time.
